GVA - Environmental Hydroseeding

Hydroseeding is a fast, efficient method of establishing grass, wildflowers and environmental habitats by applying a carefully selected mixture of seed, mulch, fertiliser and water in one operation.

Using specialist hydroseeding equipment (Finn machines) the slurry is evenly applied to the ground helping provide excellent soil to seed contact, retain moisture and protect seed during the critical establishment period.

Hydroseeding is particularly effective on large areas, difficult terrain, slopes, embankments and sites where conventional drilling or broadcasting is challenging. If you are looking to establish diverse mixtures around ponds and lakes, reseed areas of golf courses or manage erosion on river banks hydroseeding could be for you.

We can also offer temporary irrigation to further improve establishment in dry conditions.

Our service provides a practical cost effective solution for establishing high quality vegetation quickly and consistently. We can also offer bespoke seed mixtures to meet your requirements whether that is for BNG or certain grasses and wildflowers to your specification.

Assess

Every project begins with a site assessment. We consider soil type, existing vegetation, ground conditions, access, slope, moisture, erosion risk and intended use of the area.

Where appropriate, soil analysis and site surveys would help us identify any factors that could affect establishment.

Specify

We select the most appropriate seed mixture, mulch and application programme for the site.

Whether establishing grassland, wildflower habitat, amenity areas, restoration schemes or erosion control vegetation, our agronomic approach ensures the specification is the matched to the site and desired outcome.

Prepare

Successful hydroseeding starts before the machine arrives. Where required we can advise and/or undertake ground preparation, weed control, soil amendments and seedbed preparation. The aim is to create the best possible conditions for a rapid and even establishment.

Hydroseed

Using specialist equipment, we apply a carefully mixed slurry containing seed, water, mulch and where required, fertiliser and tackifier.

The application creates close seed to soil contact while the mulch helps retain moisture and protect the seed during the critical establishment period.

For challenging sites, specialist erosion control mulches and growth media can be incorporated into the specification.

Establish

Our involvement doesn't end when the slurry leaves the machine.

We can provide practical establishment advice covering irrigation, grazing and cutting management, weed control and ongoing maintenance.

Where required temporary irrigation can be put in place to aid establishment in dry conditions.
